Event Box Q & A:

Q: Why is it called “Seasonal Saturdays in a box?”

A:  As soon as we can safely resume this program in-person (hopefully in 2022), we will host this program on a select Saturday each season (four times a year). We kept the word “Saturday” the same in this transition year, since this event box is our Seasonal Saturday program for 2021.

Q: Do I have to use my $1 admission reservations on a Saturday?

A: No! Come anytime we are open (Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm).

Q: Do I have to pick up my box on a Saturday?

A:  No! We’ll have your box ready 24 hours after we get your reservation. Pick up your box anytime we are open (Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm) during our spring season (March 1- May 31).

Q: Do I have to use my $1 admission reservations the same time as when I pick up my box?

A: No! Pick up your box one day, and visit us on another day if you wish. Your $1 admission discount is good anytime during our spring season (March 1- May 31).

Q: Do I need to make reservations to come to MMAM for $1? Why are they called “reservations?”

A:  No! Once you register for a box and get your confirmation email, everything we need is in our system. Just visit MMAM anytime we are open (Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm). We are calling the tickets “reservations” because you will not have a physical ticket or coupon, but rather, we will have your reservation in our system. Use it anytime.

Q:  Should I do the activities in the event box first, or visit MMAM first?

A:  Either one! We are hoping that the activities in the box create a more enriching museum experience, should you do the activities first. Or, if you choose to visit and then do the box activities, we are hoping your visit makes the activities in the box more meaningful. It’s a win-win!

Q: How many people can use one box?

A: Most activities will work best for 2-6 people, but parties of one are welcome to pick one up too! When you reserve your box, please indicate how many people will be participating.

Q: What are the best ages for the box?

A: Most of the contents in the box can be enjoyed by a wide age range. Adults, teens, and children 8 and older, are our main target audiences.

Q: Should I count my kids younger than 8-years-old as people “participating in the box?”

A: Yes! Although they might not be able to fully participate, they can munch on a snack and partner with a parent on activities.

Q: How many boxes can I get?

A: One box per household/quarantine bubble, please.

Q:  I don’t want the box. Can I get just the $1 admission?

A:  No. The event boxes and admission are a package deal.

Q: Are you making more boxes this year?

A:  Yes! We are planning to make 275 spring boxes (March 1- May 31), 275 summer boxes (June 1- August 31), and 275 fall boxes (September 1 - November 31). We are crossing our fingers that we can resume our in-person program for a Winter Seasonal Saturday in early 2022!

Q: Can I get a box next season if I got one this season?

A:  Absolutely! Registration for our Summer Event Boxes will open on June 1, 2021.  Check back on our website on June 1, 2021.

Q: I didn’t get a Spring box. Can I pre-register for the Summer box?

A: Unfortunately, we can’t start registration for the summer boxes until June 1, 2021.  This is simply to give everyone an equal chance to get one. Give us a call at 507-474-6626 if you have any questions.

Q: How is this (totally awesome) box free?

A:  We are only able to offer this event box (a $35 value for a family of four!) thanks to the leaders in our community and region who serve as catalysts for change, and who are dedicated to supporting our mission of arts access.  See our amazing sponsors below!

Q: What is arts access?

A: Arts access is simply making the arts more available to everyone! The Minnesota State Arts Board, a leader in arts access funding, gives money (through competitive grants) to arts organizations who seek to plan and provide strategic, long-term engagement between arts organizations and traditionally underserved communities. We are so grateful for their support.

Q:  I am a MMAM member/MMAM volunteer. Can I get a box?

A:  Thank you for your support! We couldn’t do programs like this one without you. These boxes are intended for our Winona neighbors who may not have ever been to MMAM and/or need the discounted admission, free transportation, and welcoming activities in the box to make it easier to visit and discover what you already love about us.

Support for the Event Boxes and Seasonal Saturdays Comes From:

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
