Summer Seasonal Saturday
Party Animals!
Saturday, August 12, 2023 | 10am - 5pm
Join the Minnesota Marine Art Museum on Saturday, August 12th for our popular Seasonal Saturday event, featuring $1 admission and special themed activities based on the theme, Party Animal, inspired by MMAM’s current exhibition, Liz Sexton: Out of Water.
Special Activities will Include:
Artist Demonstration
[1pm - 3:30pm] Paper mâché demonstration by exhibiting artist, Liz Sexton.
Live Music
[11am - 12pm] Enjoy live music in the galleries from Adesso Duo (violin).
[3pm - 4pm] The flute ensemble Flutistry will also perform in the galleries in the afternoon.
Activate Outside! Community Design with Chris Cornelius
[10am - 2pm]
MMAM is poised to pursue some ambitious plans to rethink its six-acre campus plan over the next three to five years. On Seasonal Saturday, meet architect Chris Cornelius and share your thoughts about ways MMAM can use its outdoor spaces to be more inviting for everyone in our community, create a space that promotes a healthy lifestyle, and connects us more to the plants and animals all around us.
Themed Tours
[10:15am, 11:15am, 12:15pm, 1:15, 2:15pm, 3:15pm, and 4:15pm] Take a 30-minute highlights tour based on the theme of today’s event.
Art-Making
[All-Day] Try your hand at making some art of your own! There will be an art-making activity for all ages and abilities in the Oberton Education Room. This is included in your $1 admission!
Bingo Overboard
[All day] Play Bingo Overboard and win a prize! Everyone’s favorite search-and-find gallery game is available all day.
Community Partner
[10am - 2pm] Whitewater State Park is the Summer Seasonal Saturday Community Partner. Learn all about bats from a naturalist!
Food Truck
[11am - 2pm] Winona food truck, Chef’s Table, will be selling food from 11am-2pm outside the museum. Please enjoy your food must be enjoyed outside on the Riverwalk!
Project Fine
[10am - 1pm] Spanish and Hmong interpreters from Project FINE will be onsite at MMAM from 10am - 1pm.
Free transportation
Free transportation to and from the Minnesota Marine Art Museum is available through Winona Area Transit Service’s Dial-A-Ride. Call 507-454-6666 to schedule your ride a few days before you plan to visit, and MMAM will pay your fare upon arrival and provide you with return fare.
