About the Workshop
This "Create a Character" workshop invites kids to unleash their imagination and bring unique characters to life through illustration. Through guided exercises and creative prompts, attendees will learn to draw characters with distinct personalities. We'll explore facial structure, how to incorporate unique features, and develop their character to enhance storytelling skills.
This workshop is designed with youth ages 8-12 in mind.

Aimee Kuiper is an author and illustrator from the suburban wilds of Savage, MN. Her personal practice has fueled a passion to make art accessible to all ages, abilities, and communities. Art is for everyone!

Come be a part of this colorful craft revival and learn to make your own mobile to adorn your space!
In this workshop, participants will learn Peterson’s storytelling approach to image-making alongside foundational papercutting techniques. Students will design and construct their own delicate, translucent paper lanterns, layering imagery and light to create luminous, narrative-driven forms.

Join artist and woodcarver, John Carlson, for a hand-on 1-day workshop exploring the technique of chip carving. Chip carving is a decorative style of wood carving that involves incising a pattern or design directly into the wood.
Join artist and instructor, Kevin Ewing, for a one-day hands-on workshop that will introduce you to relief carving. You will learn to use a variety of carving tools to create your own relief carving in basswood. Add color with paint to finish your piece, or let the natural wood speak for itself.
In this three-day workshop, professional rod builder Kris Kristufek will guide you step-by-step through the process of designing and building a high-performance spin or casting rod—up to seven feet long—using premium, American-made materials.
Join MMAM exhibiting artist Barbara McIlrath for a two-day workshop exploring the art of still life painting.
Join MMAM exhibiting artist, Regan Golden, for a one-day workshop on water-based monotype printing. Golden will lead participants through the printing process using plants, flowers, and other materials found in the MMAM gardens as inspiration.
