Visitor Experience Associate
NonExempt, Regular Part Time
Hourly $17.50-$22.50

Our Visitor Experience Associates represent the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) by warmly greeting and assisting visitors with care and professionalism. They create a welcoming, engaging, informative, and positive environment that encourages meaningful visitor experiences.
This role is responsible for processing admissions, memberships, retail sales, and program or rental transactions via online, in person, and by phone. They also help ensure the front desk experience is organized, inviting, and responsive to visitor needs, while actively supporting and advocating for the diverse constituents the museum serves.
Responsibilities will include:
Visitor Services (75%)
Create an inclusive, accessible, and visitor-centered environment. Serve as the primary point of contact, welcoming and assisting visitors in person and by phone.
Deliver friendly, proactive customer service by answering questions and anticipating visitor needs.
Create a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits, memberships, and positive word-of-mouth.
Process all front desk transactions, including admissions, memberships, retail sales, donations, and program fees. Promote museum memberships, exhibitions, and upcoming programs and events.
Maintain and reconcile the point of sale drawer, ensuring accuracy in all sales transactions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of public areas, including the front desk, store, café, and seasonal outdoor spaces.
Actively supports and follows museum’s emergency and safety procedures to help ensure a safe environment for visitors, staff, and volunteers.
Participate in team meetings and support a culture of hospitality and accountability.
Support large- and small- scale museum events, helping create smooth, welcoming experiences for crowds of 1,000+ attendees
Support colleagues (staff and volunteer gallery greeters)
Audience Insights (15%)
Assisting with visitor studies and data collection, including, but not limited to, conducting visitor intercept interviews and visitor tracking and timing studies
Entering and maintaining member and visitor constituent records.
Analyzes the constituent journey to identify opportunities that enhance the visitor experience across all museum touchpoints, including entrance, membership, programs, events, and workshops.
Other (10%)
Assisting with the enterprise functions of the museum by supporting the Enterprise Manager with assigned tasks, including receiving and shipping packages, maintaining inventory, restocking, cafe upkeep, and general store upkeep
First point of contact for volunteers checking in, signing up or changing shifts, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Position Specifics:
Part-time (up to 32 hours per week)
Preferred (To Start) 30 hours per week preferably Thursdays-Sundays (9:45am-5:15pm)
Required to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends, as required.
Work location: on location 100%

You’ll likely demonstrate:
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Experience with word processing systems, point of sale systems, customer management system software, cloud-based operating systems, and/or the ability to learn new computer software and systems quickly.
Retail or customer service experience preferred
Museum or arts organization experience preferred
Experience working with diverse populations, and advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion preferred
