Product Consideration:
The following criteria is taken into consideration when evaluating applications. Sometimes the criteria may be met, but the timing with current merchandise doesn’t align.
MMAM Mission Alignment - Does the product make sense with our curated Gift Shoppe? Does the product fit into our work creating meaningful art experiences that explore our relationship with water, spark wonder, and create a more compassionate and connected world for all? Does the work center community and collaboration, steward sustainability, equity, and hospitality, highlight boldness and bravery? While not all our products are in complete alignment with our Mission and Vision, we focus on products that fit in with this work.
Quality - Is the item well made? Are the components handmade or prefabricated? Is the overall quality of the item notable? We are looking for items that look and feel well crafted.
Uniqueness - Is there something that sets this product or artwork apart from other mediums? What makes it different? Is there a unique material or technique used? Is it different from the items we already carry? And, importantly, are these items already sold in other shops in Winona? We aspire to make our Shoppe a unique destination, so products that are already sold in other shops in Winona will not be considered.
Packaging - What kind of retail packaging does the item come in, if any? Are earth friendly or recyclable materials used? Are prints packaged with a sturdy backing? Most importantly, will it physically fit in the Shoppe? We want items that are easy to display, enhance the look of the product, and don't use a significant amount of plastic packaging.
Price Point - Is the item's retail price reasonable? We have all types of customers and all types of price points in the Shoppe. We consider whether the product is priced within a reasonable spectrum for that category and for our clientele. We recognize that pricing can create challenges to move the product and impact how it reflects on the items we already carry from other artists and brands. We won't dictate your product pricing, but retail price is something we consider when reviewing applications.
Aesthetic - Do the products feel like a good fit for our overall Shoppe aesthetic? We are seeking goods that meet the feel and look of our shop overall. Even if a product is well made and packaged beautifully, it doesn't always mean it will be a good fit.
