Quilted Postcards Workshop at MMAM with Jennifer Sanborn
Sunday, November 10th | 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Free! You must reserve your spot by Thursday, Nov 7. Call 507-474-6626 to sign up.
This program is free thanks to the generous support of the Ernest and Sally Micek Family in memory of W.B. "Bill" Gautsch.
In this two hour workshop, participants will use fabric and fusibles to create quilted postcards that can be sent through US Mail.
Participants will work with cotton fabrics, thread, permanent markers, and fusible interfacings to make art quilt postcards. Using scissors or rotary cutters, a steam iron, and a sewing machine, students will make fun size quilts that can be mailed with a single postage stamp. This is a great format for beginning quilters and sewists, as it allows for design creativity without a long time investment, and they are easy and fun to share with others.
Local quilter Jennifer Sanborn will provide examples, instruction, and encouragement to try new and fun things with fabric. Previous experience with a sewing machine or rotary cutters is an advantage, but not required.
Equipment and supplies will be provided; sewing machines will be shared.
You may bring your own sewing machine and power strip extension cord if you wish, but be sure it is in good working order before the class. Jennifer will not be able to provide sewing machine repair or maintenance on brought machines.
