On Cloud Nine: Exploring the Skies & Landscapes of MMAM

Second Saturday: Home Edition!

Inspired by our collections, exhibitions, local artists, and talented staff and volunteers, virtual Second Saturdays will offer some of our favorite components of the on-site program that you can do at home, plus some interactive elements that we could only offer online!

Our theme for October is On Cloud Nine: Exploring the Skies & Landscapes of MMAM. Many of the artists represented in MMAM’s collection dedicate as much as  half of their canvas to the sky, yet we often focus on the land. Let’s lose ourselves in the skies.

We invite you to explore the skies and landscapes with online activities you can enjoy in your home.

Art Kits available for Pick Up at MMAM on October 10

With the theme for October’s Second Saturday as “On Cloud Nine: Exploring the Skies & Landscapes of MMAM,” we have used clouds as our inspiration for a fun art project. You’re invited to pick up an art kit with all of the supplies and instructions to create a cloud-inspired art project that you can hang on your wall.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, between 10AM and 12PM (or until supplies run out), we will be offering curbside pick up of 300 art kits at the Museum located at 800 Riverview Drive.  We will have two different art projects — one designed for ages 7 and younger and one designed for children ages 8 and older.  Please note that with some accommodations and help from a grown-up, both kits can be fun for kids of all ages.  One kit per child please. These will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis — we are not taking reservations.  Spread the word about this opportunity!

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
