Did you know that The 1619 Project: Born on the Water by Nikole Hannah-Jones and Renée Watson and illustrated by Nikkolas Smith (Penguin Random House, 2021) is banned in two states? We’ll read the book and share our thoughts on it and its banning.
Born on the Water is one of two books featured in an exhibition at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Across a Wide Ocean: Remarkable Stories about the Origins of Identity, on view January 27, 2024 - January 5, 2025.
This event is one of three 2024 Community Reads programs during the month of August that are presented in partnership with the Winona Public Library and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
