Take in the sights, sounds and creative sensations of the Driftless region this summer, riverside at the Museum. MMAM’s perennial favorite all-ages event, Mississippi Sippin, returns in 2024 with a lineup of outdoor live summer music, featuring artist trunk shows from Shoppe MMAM, guest culinary partners, and seasonal one-off small batch beverages by our friends from Two Fathoms Brewing, Winona Minnesota’s newest riverside brewery.
Mississippi Sippin is the perfect place to spend a sensational summer night outside on the Mississippi River. Looking to cool off? With more than 20,000 square feet of art to enjoy inside MMAM’s climate-cooled environment, there is something for everyone.
From music and food, to paintings and photography, experience the many ways that art can be inspired by water at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
Concert
Thursday, August 15 features Hannah Mayree, a banjoist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and vocalist. The concert will be outdoors in the MMAM gardens, and is free and open to all ages.

The outdoor concert is free and open to all ages (donations appreciated). The MMAM galleries are open until 8pm, and while admission is required to enter the galleries, all students receive free entry every Thursday at MMAM (Free Student Thursdays). FOOD & DRINK
MMAM is proud to be partnering with Two Fathoms Brewing, Winona, Minnesota’s newest brewery that specializes in unique limited releases and independently crafted original brews with a focus on progressive brewing techniques. Whether it’s through the exploration of freshly sourced hops, experimental yeast strains, specialty grains, or the utilizations of unique local ingredients, Two Fathoms will serve up two seasonally one off batches of beer and specialty seltzers at each event.
Each concert also features food truck favorites from regional chefs. On August 15, Crêpe Jean Luc (La Crosse, WI) will be onsite at MMAM from 5-8pm.
SHOPPE MMAM TRUNK SHOWS
Stop by the MMAM pop-up tent and meet our guest artisan. On August 15, MMAM welcomes Zoe VandeBerg (Ho-Chunk Nation / Winona, MN).
INCLEMENT WEATHER ALTERNATIVE
In the event of rain or inclement weather, Mississippi Sippin will be moved inside the atrium of MMAM. There will not be cancellations due to weather.
ABOUT Hannah Mayree
Hannah Mayree (she/her/they/them) is a creative facilitator and musician whose work and art lends itself as a tool for redesigning and reconnecting to our roots as humans on this planet. A banjoist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and vocalist, Hannah shares original and traditional banjo compositions as well as harmonies through acoustic live vocal looping and reminds us of the power found in our relationship to the earth, music and community.
They founded and creatively direct the Black Banjo Reclamation Project which is currently creating musical, cultural and land-based opportunities for Black, Afro-Diasporic communities around the world to work with the banjo as a tool for reclaiming ancestral wisdom & creating Afro-futures.
