Water | Craft: Holding Ground

On view January 2 - December 26, 2027

Amy Usdin, Picnic at Deadhorse Bay

Water | Craft: Holding Ground explores how contemporary artists use craft to examine the relationships between waterways and the communities whose lives, identities, and knowledge are shaped by them. Through materials and processes that evoke aquatic environments, cultural practices, and changing landscapes, the artists consider how people inhabit, adapt to, and contend with water. From fishing nets and woven forms to ceramic structures and suspended fibers, these works reflect the ways water connects communities to place, carries cultural knowledge, and shapes possibilities for the future.
