About the event
Join Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) exhibiting artist Andy DuCett and collaborator Eric William Carroll for a Home Movie Label Catalog (HMLC) collection event inside the Video Vision space of DuCett’s Home(town) exhibition, on view now at MMAM.
The HMLC is a community-engaged art and documentary project that preserves the labels, handwritten notes, box art, and other details found on home movies from the late 20th century. While the contents of home movies are often preserved through digital transfers, their original labels and metadata are frequently discarded. The HMLC collects these overlooked pieces of family history to uncover local stories, preserve communal memories, and celebrate the personal ways families documented their lives.
Bring your old home movie labels, boxes, or other related materials to contribute to the collection and help preserve these unique pieces of local history.
