Why settle for a store-bought fishing rod when you can craft your own? In this intensive, three-day workshop, professional rod builder Kris Kristufek will guide you step-by-step through the process of designing and building a high-performance spin or casting rod—up to seven feet long—using premium, American-made materials.

Students will learn every stage of rod construction, from selecting the right blank and determining action and power to attaching handles and reel seats, finding the spine, wrapping guides, applying epoxy finish, and exploring decorative thread wrapping techniques. You’ll have the opportunity to personalize your rod with choices of color, components, and even an inscription.

All necessary tools and supplies are provided. The instructor will contact participants approximately five weeks prior to class to discuss material options and finalize custom orders.
