Regan Golden, River Construct 7 (2026), Digital photograph, ink jet print on Dibond.
Regan Golden is a Minneapolis, MN based artist, teacher, and writer whose collages, drawings, photographs and gallery installations draw inspiration from her natural environment. Her series River Constructs looks specifically at the intersection of the urban landscape and natural world in and around the Owámniyomni - Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in the heart of Minneapolis. She explores the life cycles and seasonal changes of urban plants, their traditional use as medicine in Dakotah culture, as well as a way of understanding their resilience in the face of environmental and climate change threats. Her goal is to explore her personal relationship with the River and communicate the complex history of the Twin Cities in relation to the Mississippi River. On display are photographic prints of collages she creates from cut up sections of photographs of plants and urban structures layered with plant specimens collected along the River. Her large, colorful prints are incredibly detailed and imbue a sense of rhythm through repetitive colors and forms, conveying the circular patterns of the seasons.
