April Second Saturday Activities: Home Edition
Mindful Moments: The Joy of Discovery
Falling near the globally recognized ‘Slow Art Day’, this month’s theme is ‘Mindful Moments: The Joy of Discovery.’ When we slow down, take a breath, and a "mindful moment" to look, more can be discovered.
Bingo Overboard: Home Edition
Celebrate one of our favorite Second Saturday offerings at home today! To play Bingo Overboard Home Edition, search for the objects around your dwelling and check them off until you get a bingo (or blackout!). Objects in books, art, photos, and movies count too. Can’t find the item? Feel free to get creative and draw it. Happy scavenging!
How to take a longer look
Saturday, April 4 was international Slow Art Day. The mission of Slow Art Day is to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. We love the idea of slowing down to take a longer look at an artwork, and invite you to give it a try! Use any artwork you like (or don’t like), or try it out with one of the artworks on our collections.
Live Music with Heidi
We offer two hours of live music at each Second Saturday program. Enjoy this clip from an amazing performance by Heidi Guenther Ryan from a past Second Saturday.
Cookies
A treat enjoyed by many Second Saturday attendees is a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. We offer these treats as an incentive to help give us some feedback about the event on a survey. If you want to bake your own homemade chocolate chip cookies, here is a recipe we highly recommend. Bon appetit!
MMAM was temporarily closed March - June due to the COVID pandemic, and MMAM was not able to hold the normal April Second Saturday event. Please enjoy these resources we have put together for a little taste of Second Saturday!
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
