Saturday, April 25 | 9a - 4p
Tuition: $115 [MMAM member rate: $100] + $15 materials fee
In this beginner-friendly workshop, learn a basic beaded herringbone rope with bead artist Dulcey Heller. Participants will be provided with a started sample to learn the stitch and multiple variations, and then continue with their own creation.
You will go home with a rope sampler of your desired variations, as pictured in gold and blue. You will then create your own necklace design, from a smooth supple rope, to a highly embellished design, or somewhere in between. You will be provided with supplies to complete your design at home, as additional time is likely needed.
What’s included
Beads, needle, thread, clasp
Sample herringbone rope started, to learn stitch
What to bring
Small sharp scissors
Reading glasses, if needed
Task lighting plus extension cord, if desired. The room lighting is good, but the beads are small!
About the instructor
Dulcey lives in the Twin Cities and began beading in the mid-90s, with its side pastime of collecting beads. Her work is mostly driven by interesting shapes, and finding the seed bead technique that will give her the result she wants. Dulcey has published instructions for her original designs in beading publications, and participated in beading exhibitions. She is an advocate for finding inspiration in other mediums — going to a museum, reading coffee table books, and enjoying nature. Dulcey teaches beadwork to children, teens, and adults.
